Let’s compare the two.

Never Back Down

-About the underground fighting scene

-Stars a buff white guy

-Weird named love interest (Baja)

-Features respected Oscar-nominated African-American actor Djimon Hounsou as the mentor figure

Fighting

-About the underground fighting scene

-Stars a buff white guy

-Weird named love interest (July)

-Features respected Oscar-nominated African-American actor Terrance Howard as the mentor

I rest my case.

The only real reason to think Fighting could be something more is the involvement of Dito Montiel, who made the extremely personal and reasonably dramatic A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, which also featured Channing Tatum (giving probably his best performance I’ve seen).

All I’m saying is, wouldn’t we all be happier if Terrance Howard was doing Iron Man 2? (No offense to Don Cheadle, who is also great).
